i guess you’d use an ID where you have an exception — that is, you want this style only applyed to that specific elements, not all of them. Whether this is better than inlining the style at that exceptional element is probably a matter of taste. I think IDs are probably more useful for JavaScript as mentioned, where you may want to dynamically change the element’s style programatically. Normally I’d stick to using a class too.

You obviously don’t know the meaning of the words you are using.

Thanks so much for posting tutorials. You make it so easy to understand and follow along. This is as effective as taking classes at our local community college.

If you already made a background and stuff… then you want to make another page by doing a new .html file. How do you keep all the stuff from the last one? Do you just copy and paste?

Excellent Tutorial. I’m following your tutorial to build a website and am running into a glitch. In creating materials for the “Main Content,” I added an image to float left (after the “Navigation”). However, when I use the .content style for that main content div, the paragraph (created after the image) still wraps around the image; it is not in alignment as yours. Any suggestions? Thanks again for an excellent tutorial!

There are several free ones out there that are pretty good. Komodo edit, Notepad++ and Aptana Studio are all free and fairly easy to use. If I remember right I think they all have code completion capabilities as well.

Thank you so much! I’m in a Webmaster competition in my school, and I’ve never had classes for Web Design. This is one of the few tutorials that made me understand. (I’m quite scatterbrained.) This really helped me, you’re the best.

I only use id tags if I will only use the tag once or if I want to have it for a unique style I want to apply to it. I look at classes like they are a general style, something you will use over and over.
